GRR Number: 16-073
Type of Surrender: Palm Valley Animal Center
Status: Available
Age: 5 years
Weight: 55 lbs.
Personality: Looking for a handsome Golden that has a calm, affectionate demeanor? Look no further, Kai is your guy. This young man leaves the jumping and nipping and mouthing to those over-energetic puppies that are forever getting underfoot! He much prefers being your constant companion, interested in whatever the day brings, as long as he can participate with you.
Kai does very well in the car, and enjoys the ride calmly. If he gets to go for a walk, he does very well on a leash, after the initial excitement of “we’re going on a walk!” fades. He celebrates the occasion with a couple of jumps and spins while getting the leash on, and then calmly enjoys the fun. He readily takes in the frequent “what a beautiful dog!” compliments that come his way during his walks, not letting it go to his head. Just look at his poses in the photos. What a ham!
When Kai was first introduced to his foster’s house, he had a few accidents in the house, but has been just fine since then, thank you. He sleeps through the night, quietly snoozing away. True to his breed, he loves to fetch, and will retrieve a toy, a ball, almost anything he can carry! And speaking of love, he loves to be groomed, absorbing all that attention, just knowing how “marvelous” he is going to look once groomed. And even more amazing, he stands quite still while being bathed, so no tag team is needed to corral him for a soaking.
Without a doubt, Kai would do well in so many homes, and just might bring his great Golden Retriever personality to yours.
Ideal Home: Kai would be best in a single dog household, and with no cats. He is heartworm positive and so needs a home ready for the two month low activity period during heartworm treatment. Kai is a well-mannered, calm and low energy guy, so a compatible home environment would suit him best.
