Type of Surrender: Owner Surrender
Status: Available
Age: 1 - 2 years
Weight: 75 lbs. - perfect
Personality: If you are looking for a tall, redheaded, handsome young stranger, Weezer is your guy. This adolescent Golden was surrendered by his owners after a family medical condition required on-going attention, with Weezer left unattended. This boy has a beautiful medium-to-dark gold coat, with alert eyes, quick reflexes and an active, exuberant personality. In fact, Weezer wants to play continuously – just what you would expect from a healthy young Golden! Despite his high energy level, he is well housebroken, and has no fear of loud noises (thunderstorms in particular). He never met a stranger, and loves everyone (dogs and humans) he meets in short order. He seems to enjoy being groomed and doesn't mind hugs one bit. For all of his good natured social skills, he has shown no love for cats, however!
Weezer knows sit, paw, and is a gentleman on leash, except when he saw a bunny. He enjoys a good antler, a cuddle and kisses. When its playtime, he loves water, loves to chase a stream of water from a hose, chases and retrieves balls and plays very well with other dogs. How’s that for energetic? He has an incredible vertical leap, worthy of a gold medal, so a suitable backyard fence is in order for this boy!
Weezer has received the full GRR protocol of vet visits, and the vet declared him to be a very healthy dog.
From all indications, Weezer is a great Golden, and will mature into a fine family companion.
Ideal Home: Weezer is high energy and would fit well in a young at heart home. He has a very strong prey drive, and therefore should not be in a home with cats, birds or other small animals. A home with another dog would be great. He has been wonderful with the foster’s 25 pound cattle dog mix and one year old Golden Retriever. As with all young Goldens, he needs a family ready to spend time completing his training and keeping him exercised.
